Vaguely, a Winery

The production of wine is no stranger to mysticism and the occult. Every winery follows its own preferred steps of production, an individualized ritual, slightly adjusted from the original, and perfected over time, specific to place. At what point is it fair to characterize a practice as liturgical? When does strict adherence cross a threshold and venture into masochism? And does any of it matter as long as it tastes good?

Vaguely, a Winery is a building designed for just that. With ambitions of Biodynamic farming and the education thereof, the architecture is asked to both support a stated function and accept a set of rules which render it almost non-functional.
